History
Many passions, simple yet near and dear to my heart, have governed the life of my son, Kareem. These passions have pulled “Kooki” hither and thither and made him flip flop his career paths repeatedly. I remember when he first answered that age-old question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?". As a 5-year old, he was bitten by the soccer bug. Later he shifted gears to pilot, swimming champion, cook, policeman, driver, and on it went….
I have always been sensitive to and appreciated all the gorgeous details and countless blessings of being a mom. My home is a place of peace and warmth, love and laughter, respect and cooperation. However, my high-paced lifestyle takes its toll on my energy. I always feel like being pulled in a million different directions and like I am running in circles. My to-do list is never ending. When asked about how I am doing, I often use terms like “pulled in all directions”, “have too much on my plate”, “exhausted”. And it is no secret that sometimes I reach a point where I am overloaded and burned out.
We, parents, cherish all the precious moments; watching our children grow up. Yet, we continue to torment ourselves about doing more – and doing it perfectly – in every area of life. And when it comes to celebrating our children’s birthdays and occasions we go out of our way! Gifts have become a part of our daily life. Sure, it is a pleasure to offer gifts, but who wants the hustle and bustle of shopping malls almost every day.
