Anxiety about school return and treatment

Some children often experience anxiety as school returns approach

Who will be my new teacher?

What if my new teacher is cruel?

Will any of my friends be with me in my class?

Are my clothes looking good?

Am I going to look stupid?

Who am I going to sit down for lunch?

What if I miss the school bus?

What if I can’t understand the lesson?

What if something bad happened to my mom or dad while I was in school?

Here are some general strategies that parents can use to deal with Back-to-school concerns:

Make sure you provide the basics for your child, i.e. they get enough bedtime before school, or they don’t feel hungry while working, so make sure to provide repeated and nutritious snacks for your child.

Encourage your child to think about Ways to solve their problem for example, “If (the worst) happens, what can you do?”, You also need to redirect the attention away from concerns and focus it on positives.

Ask your child what makes them worried and tell them it’s normal to have concerns before and during the first few weeks of school.

Imagining a particular situation and playing roles with your child can help you prepare a suitable plan for them to feel more confident if they face a problem.
