Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

It is a neurodevelopmental disorder that occurs in childhood and persists into adulthood, presenting in various forms and symptoms.
Although there are no clear and precise reasons for its occurrence, some studies have proven its association with certain factors.
While pharmacological treatment is effective in controlling symptoms, it cannot replace behavioral and educational therapy.
Diagnosis must be made by a specialist as there is no definitive analysis to diagnose the disorder. Unfortunately, there are no ways to prevent ADHD if there are multiple risk factors; however, some methods may reduce its incidence.

The disease definition
It is states that it results from a deficiency in the amount of chemical messengers (dopamine, noradrenaline) in the frontal cortex (frontal lobe), which facilitate cells to carry out their work and communicate between parts of the brain.

Types of disorders:

Some symptoms may be more prevalent than others. However, this does not necessarily indicate the absence of other symptoms, and the incidence of symptoms may vary across different age stages. For instance, hyperactivity and impulsivity tend to manifest before school age, while distraction becomes more apparent as soon as the individual enters school.

1- Distraction:

Individuals with this type of disorder tend to exhibit more distracting symptoms. The percentage of females affected is higher than that of males.

2- Hyperactivity and impulsivity:

Individuals with this type of disorder tend to display symptoms of hyperactivity and impulsivity more frequently. The percentage of males affected is higher than that of females.

3- Common type:

This type includes distractibility with hyperactivity and impulsivity. It is the most common type, with individuals exhibiting all the symptoms of ADHD and impulsivity to a similar degree.
Associated disorders:
Disorders that may appear in people with ADHD include learning difficulties, which make it more challenging for individuals to maintain order, absorb information, and respond to orders or requests. Dyslexia and dyscalculia are the most common learning disabilities among those with the disorder.

Standard treatments for ADHD in children include medications, behavioral therapy, and counseling and education services. These treatments can relieve many of the symptoms of ADHD, but they don’t cure it. It may take some time to determine what is best for your child.
