Boredom of study

It is normal for your child to be temporarily bored from studying or learning at home or in school, but it is not normal for this boredom to continue and evolve to take dimensions that may affect the child’s level of performance and academic attainment as well as the psychological effects of the child.

The child’s boredom from studying is associated with several factors and influences:

1- Absence of stimulus factor:

The lack of motivation and encouragement from a child’s school activities is at the forefront of the reasons why a child is bored with such activities, especially in younger children, who are unable to encourage and motivate themselves to study and learn.

2- The wrong methods of dealing cause boredom:

Some parents believe that their insistence on repeatedly requiring their child to carry out their school duties, and perform their tasks helps them to raise their educational attainment level and protects them from any possible shortcoming, but that the child’s repeated and exaggerated demand for the completion of their tasks may have an opposite effect.

3- Erroneous traditional teaching methods:

These methods depend on transmitting information that is appropriate for the child without stimulating boredom or diminishing their growth mindset.

4- The difficulty or ease of educational content causes boredom from the study:

One of the reasons why a child is also bored and unwilling to study is because of the difficulty of the information he receives, or the sense that the information and scientific content he receives at school is easy compared to his intellectual abilities and cognitive skills that drive them to be bored.

How can I help my child avoid school boredom?

1. Stay in touch with the school to learn about the educational methods used and how successful they are in motivating your child to study and learn.

2. Encouraging them to achieve achievable goals in a constructive manner in the fight against the study’s boredom.

3. Raising the level of easy challenges for a child prevents any possible signs of boredom from studying.

4. Healthy methods of dealing with children are important for encouraging and protecting children from being bored from schooling.
